Sounding My Battle Cry Against House Plant Diseases
This morning I went to my garden to water the plants. I believe that regular upkeep and watering is the formula for maintaining my simple, yet beautiful garden. My garden is so relaxing; I have this spot where I can get enough shade when taking my hot Japanese tea and the right amount of morning sunlight at the same time.
After a minute of taking my morning routine, I soon realize that my garden was under attacked. I usually had my garden trashed by my golden retriever before I managed to install a wooden fence just enough for “Tucker” (my doggie) to stay away. This time, I saw these white cotton-like or white web-like balls underneath the leaves of my bonsais.
I couldn’t even distinguish if the disease is viral, bacterial, or fungal. I am no experts to these diseases nor am I an agriculturist. Though there is one thing that I am certain of, I love my plants; and I want to protect them against all these diseases or plant-eating insects. Whatever they are; I have to do something.
So, I went On-Line to learn more about my new adversary—these house plant diseases. Knowing and understanding them, before attacking them, is my “battle plan”; “knowledge is power” are the words of my grandfather.
Here are some of the common enemies I may have in the battle field (Oh! I mean in my garden): powdery mildew, gray mold, rhododendron bud blast, rose black spot, aphids, mealybugs, and spider mites. These common house plants, if not properly treated could be very harmful to my plants. Doing serious damage to my garden, where I love to take my early morning tea, is not tolerable.
Tomorrow—early morning—I will sound the battle cry; and before the day ends, my adversaries will be vanquished!
